Linkwood Awarded Phase 2 Beautification Grant!

For the second year in a row, Linkwood Civic Club has been awarded a City of Houston matching grant for the beautification of its Stella Link adopted esplanades. This award comes only 9 months following the club's completion of the Stella Link Esplanade project Phase I in which irrigation, a large planting bed, and trees were added at the intersection of Stella Link and South Braeswood. Phase 2 of the project will concentrate its efforts on the Stella Link and East Linkwood Drive intersection. Plans include the addition of colorful flower beds at the esplanade tips of Linkwood Drive, creating an attractive entrance to the neighborhood. Additional mature hardwoods will be planted along the esplanades to provide a shaded, natural boundary to the neighborhood.

Phase I Beautification Completed

We are very pleased with the completion of Phase I of the Linkwood Esplanade Beautification Project. The beautiful bed of native plants and seasonal color is a welcomed makeover from the previous "ugly duckling" intersection of South Braeswood and Stella Link. The addition of the colorful, artistic birdhouses represents the pride and care of the Linkwood community. Residents look forward to the maturing of Oaks, Pines, and other hardwoods planted along the esplanade that will provide shade, reduce noise pollution, and create an inviting, wooded entrance to the neighborhood.

Linkwood Awarded Matching Beautification Grant!

The Linkwood Civic Club has been awarded a matching grant from the City of Houston for the beautification of the esplanade at Stella Link and South Braeswood. Linkwood is a treelined, family friendly neighborhood located on South Braeswood between Stella Link and Ilona. The neighborhood is bound by adopted esplanades on the north and west.
Beautification plans include the addition of trees, a planting area at the north tip for seasonal color, an automatic irrigation system and a water meter. The refurbished esplanade will welcome commuters traveling this major artery to the Medical Center, Reliant Stadium, and the new South Main Freeway. In addition, the new trees will provide a home for birds, benefit air quality, and provide shade and beauty along the esplanade.
The residents of Linkwood have a desire to beautify Houston. From lemonade stand fundraisers to teams of planters, residents of all ages will be involved in the esplanade beautification project. Initial funding for the project will be provided by the Linkwood Civic Club, but more resources are needed. If you would like to contribute to the landscape improvements of the Stella Link esplanade or donate a memorial tree, please send checks payable to Linkwood Civic Club. Mail to the attention of Lisa Sharp, 3707 South Braeswood, Houston, TX 77025. Click on the following link for access to donation form: Linkwood Donor Form
